• Snowstar Ski Area opened to the public in 1981 with one lift and three trails. The first season there were 23,512 reported skier visits over a 76 day season. They paid $14 a day to access the trails.  

• Despite three consecutive warm winters, Snowstar is still committed to investing in on-going upgrades, marking 21 uninterrupted years of expansion.
  
  
• The trail names at Snowstar were based on astrology themes.
  
  
• In 1981 the ski area sold a lift ticket for $14 and a season pass was $225, not too far away from the season pass price today.
  
  
• In 1981 the area had 3 snowguns, today we have 32.
  
  
• The current lodge was built in 1981. It has been added on to and remodeled three times.
  
  
• The temperature at the top of the hill and at the base of the hill are usually 4 or 5 degrees different.
  
  
• Snowmaking at the resort actually alters the weather for an area about 2-3 miles around the slopes. It makes it colder and increases the chance for natural snow.
  
  
• All water used for snowmaking is recycled into our snowmaking ponds.
  
  
• Todays lounge, with the fireplace, was the original rental shop.
  
  
• Todays lounge and fireplace at one time was the home of ski school and ski patrol.
  
  
• Ski Snowstar has one of largest uphill capacities per acre of any resort in the country.
  
  
• The first tube ride was launched down Stargazer Tubing on December 26, 1997.
  
  
• The two double lifts that were installed in 1999 were originally located in Butler National Park in North Central Kentucky.
  
  
• More than 700,000 have visited the area since it opened. 

Ownership has remained the same since 1982. A group of eight families that have plowed every penny earned back into the area. Total ownership focus has been to provide the community with winter recreation.
